so the question is: do you want to pay more and get the same thing?
No!!..... I want do do it my self!!!! 😉
Amazing prices! And a very good selection of SET tube designs starting below 1000 USD.
At these prices one starts reconsidering certain aspects of the value of DIY.I think if you diy'ed some of these they would probably cost much more. Plus their presentation and cases look very solid and good - something that is tough for most DIY'ers to do- make a professional looking case.
I know a lot of guys are going to protest that diy is more about the process than the result. However cost has to figure in somewhere and below a certain threshold it may make DIY obsolete as long as the products offered are of good quality.
Is this one company that makes these or more? The Shanling products I know have become quite popular recently and offer good quality but may be denigrated by hi-end snobs because of their low prices and origin.I remember Japanese products were treated much the same way - as cheap copies - once upon a time.
And of course you could buy these and tweak with them with more hi-end caps, resistors , tubes etc.

I remember reading what "It's a Sony" meant in the early days, 🙂, and it sure wasn't complimentory.
But now?

Because of that M. Levinson (man) is seling inexpensive gear to the high end snobs ...but at high prices!!!
And then everybody is happy!!
The Chineses seel the gear!
M: Levinson have the profit!
The high end audio snobs feel happy because they have bought a expensive piece of gear...
Everything work fine!
Amazing world!!!

I read a review of a Chinese amp in one of the British audio magazines . It was a chunky looking amp and I had seen a similar one in Singapore. Machined out of blocks of aluminum !
Supposedly the parent company is into aerospace equipment manufacture.
Anyway the reviewer was floored by the appearance but was totally disappointed with the sound . In high end terms it would have been called C***.
This however is not true of all Chinese amps. I am not sure which ones are really good. The Prima Luna is also Chinese made but sounds great. The EL34 version is nice but the KT88 ( PL -II ? )version is very punchy and sounds very good.
Cheers.
