BUT30V NPN transsistors, amplifier material?

Hi all

I normally only build tube amplifiers but have gotten couple of handful of old ST BUT30V NPN isotop transistors. It is a 200V 100A 250W rated package.

Datasheet: www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/but30v.pdf

I can not find any other DIY projects that have used these before, so maybe it is just not suitable or too inferior/complex compared to MOSFETs to even bother with it? Its DC SOA might be the reason for it to only have been used in low voltage SMPS of ancient times.

Kind regards
Mads

The old MJ11033 darlington and 2N5686 non-darlington seem to be better in all respects for audio. I suppose if you got them for free you'd want to experiment. Even then I'd be thinking inverter duty for some big solar panels or something.
