To get back on topic.

The RB-993 is now working fine (and will hopefully stay that way).

The right channel of the RB-991 is silent....

What things can I be checking with only a multimeter?

So a RB991

Referring to the circuit you need to check the supplies are correct to that channel. So that means confirming the -/+70 volts are correct.

You need to check that the voltage on TP2 (the output) is zero volts DC.

Also confirm that the bias current is correct (voltage across TP2 and TP4 should be around 7mv)

If the amplifier passes those tests then the result of no sound is something fundamental.
