no its not but the noise thats coming the output mimics the same noise as the transformer. The transformer actually has a constant buzz when no music in playing and when music is playing the transformer buzz in the beat of the song. I figure if i eliminate the transformer noise the output noise will also go away. i have tested pin 3 and it starts of at 14v and then goes down to 0.16v. Also are the hip4080 and 3525a ic's supposed to run warm?

I would not expect the 3525 to run hot. The 4080 will run hot.

Many times, the noise in the transformer is simply due to loose windings. This may be something different.

What are you using for a 12v power supply?

Do you have another 3525 that you can plug in?

Are you sure that the 8 pin driver IC is OK?

i have a 12v regulated power supply and also a 12v battery that is use with in fuse inline.
i did swap the 3525 no difference however i dont have any other mic4424cn laying around. The store has mic 4424 with out the cn in the end would that work?

When the power supply FETs fail, it often damages the 4424. You can temporarily bypass the 4424 by soldering jumpers from the input to its corresponding output. You'll have to solder a jumper for each input/output pair. Do not try pushing wires into the socket.

This will eliminate the 4424 as a problem if the power supply function doesn't improve.

If you have a scope, you can look at the output signals of the 4424 to see if it has a good, clean square wave that swings from VERY near ground to about 12v.

All of the 4424s have a suffix. if the distributor doesn't show the suffix, there's no way to know if it will work. It could be a surface-mount IC.

Perry I discovered one of the smd caps labelled c30 near the 4080 ic is cracked completely in half. Am guessing vibration related , no markings on it whatsoever and now its completely out the board because it fell out after moving around the bench. Do you have any idea from the ones you worked with in the past what value it may have been ? Again its the mmats 3500.1

This is a 3000. Is this the same as your amp?
