Thank you Zen Mod! For some strange reason I didn't see the pics in my previous visit. I will continue on http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-...-new-post.html for any other comments/questions. Tnx once again!
I like the part before "You probably skipped over the previous section to get to this part."

The balanced version, BBA-3, has been posted on the BA-3 thread on the

Kitting up for the BBA-3 now...
I think I will first adjust offsets and harmonics on the two "halfs" in SE configuration and then repeat after changing to balanced.
Can anybody tell me the make of the flat trim pots that Papa uses?
Cheers,
Nic

Am I forbidden to attach a .GIF drawing here?
It uploaded fine, but never showed, so I deleted.

Sorry Nelson
The first performance graph is a little confusing.
Are you saying that the performance of the front end has this distortion (eg driving a 50k load) or are you saying the entire circuit with follower output driving an 8 Ohm load has this distrortion?
Either way I think I will build a balanced version of this amp driving a circlotron (follower output), I designed a while back.
Bloody nice work by the way (as usual).

Really love to see nelson flexing his mighty pen in action in this forum,
makes mortal like me think. The maestro sway his magic wand once more.

BA-3 line stage output cap...
Wow 10 uf, that's high, can one get away with a lower capacitance output cap? Thanks!

You could " get away with " a smaller value but I
gather the rule of thumb is to use a much larger
cap than is really needed. Here is an old but still
excellent article about audio caps. http://www.waltjung.org/PDFs/Picking_Capacitors_1.pdf

This cap ought to be low pas filter. Why not put a 50k -100k resistor to ground after it, with that a 1 to 2 uf cap would work. And even without that lets say the amp. has an input impedance of 50k, that would also work. Unless the cap does something more.
Because the output bank already has an input impedance of about 47k ohms in the SE version and the push pull version will have an input impenitence of closer to 2k.
