Any more info on that one?

Bummer! I was the guy who came up with the wrong number.
It was all great fun and certainly learned a lot.

Hi Dave,
They were BIB's made of 1/2" chip board and fastened with 6 penny nails, with the typical large volume open top vent design.
He used the Pioneer B20 drivers from partsexpress, an expensive small metal domed tweeter with I believe a simple solen-split crossover.
The boxes were unfinished, but in true DIY style he matched the lumber grade stamps to match between the pair.
😀
He reminded me of when I was a teenager tinkering with hifi on my allowance. Really brought back fond memories.

Variac had a big hand in those... drivers were $60 + shipping + wood... Mark says <$100. Still an excellent frugal-phile(tm) effort (even if you double the driver value by adding phase plugs)

42?
😀
Actually, those 23-0-23 transformers sound good for a pretty beastly Aleph-X or this balanced circuit I'm fiddling with.

I'm the one who picked 19, and now I'm in trouble with the wife for spending hours and hours online looking for the "perfect" enclosure for my new Moth drivers!
Still looking as of this moment....

You might think about the BIB enclosure as a starting point. This is the box the Brock family demoed at BA07. I's very inexpensive to build and sounded great.

That design is much too large for my house!
I posted a query to the metronome thread to which Scottmoose replied it wouldn't be the best match.
Still researching...

Actually they were made of 3/4" board the official name is OSB Oriented Strand Board.. They were edge glued and nailed- no clamping. I like the stuff, The knock test puts them as harder than softwood plywood but softer than hardwood premium ply.
The tweeter was INexpensive not expensive-that's just a typo I think..
My impression was that people really liked them--They had real impact in a huge room.. .
Costs:
If you buy 4, (go in with a friend ) the 8" Pioneer BOFUs are $22 each, the Tweeters are $4 each. The three sheets of OSB was $16/ sheet, but we didn't look for a sale or anything..
So the total was exactly $100 for the pair if you don't count nails glue, tax or shipping!
The Brocks are good friends of mine and the two sons (Nelson and Loren) got 4 more pairs of BOFUs from Nelson Pass to make BIB's for their friends (who are VERY interested) as well as 160 tiny tweeters to make a line source! as well as enough transformers, heatsinks JFETS etc, to make a V9 amp.. I guess they were smart to name the kid Nelson!
Again, here is the BOFU BIB thread..

Another guy I know brought a bunch of 4" drivers from a line source that he had made in the past, to the show to sell. Of course he didn't sell a one, as people were focused on the free stuff at The House of Pass.
Yet as soon as the Brock's had all those tweeters they needed the 4" mids, so a deal was arranged.. and everyone left happy.
Nelson left before the end, so the 4KV transformers were just sitting there for hours- finally someone took them, but I was impressed that generally most were able to resist.. I saw many hefting them but they would put them back.. Just carrying a pair to the car would be a big effort..

It's not that bad. I deal with it every time I fly to Taiwan with my equipment for a deposition! A little extra cash at the checkin counter and on it goes! A handtruck is helpful though. 😀

Harrumph!
Show me a low voltage, high current transformer and I'll show you an amp.
I'm reduced to paralleling transformers to get enough current. Sad.
