Generally speaking he is correct.
This may well not apply to the SL3 but I don't know of any other static that is not best left plugged in.
Some take more than 30 minutes to come up to speed and definitelt sound distorted when not fully charged, hence his remark I suppose.
I still fail to see how this is related to running in speakers or components though.

The thing was that the dealer claimed it was good to have high voltage on all the time, played "better".
