Hi. I've been lurking in this forum for a few weeks. I've started to build a projector and I'm confused about a couple things.
What I have:
15.4" Proview
220mm FL Condenser Fresnel
550mm FL Field Fresnel
What I need:
Lamp & Reflector (was planning on 400w MH HQI)
Projection Lens
Condenser Lens(maybe?)
Ok, so:
1) Will I need a condenser lens?
2)If the 220mm FL fresnel is 20mm from the LCD do I place the lamp 220mm behind the LCD or the Fresnel? I was thinking 220mm behind the fresnel b/c i thought the light went parallel after the lens but I am very confused about this.
3) Assumming the use of the 550mm 3DLens feild fresnel, what projection lens should I use?
And, if I use DIYPC's 135mm 455mm FL lens, where should I place the lens? Can this lens be used? I cannot find a lens with a 500mm or more focal length so far.
Thank's for the help!

Ok, in a link to another thread in another thread I found some of the info I was looking for. But I am still confused about figuring the exact lens placements within the projector. I would like to do this right the first time. I have searched through this board quite a bit but have only been reading it a few weeks and there is a bit of a learning curve involved. I am sure all these questions have been answered but i can't find them exactly. There should be a sticky with the answers to the most basic questions such as these, in optics for example.
From what I gather I can use a 455mm triplet for my projection lens. Setting aside throw length and projected screen size, I need to know what the ideal placement distance is for the projection lens to the field fresnel and how you figure that. Wanting as much light as possible through the lens.
Assumptions:
220mm FL condensing fresnel 20mm before LCD
393mm diag. LCD (13.125" x 8.1875")
550mm FL field fresnel 10mm after LCD
455mm FL projection lens
I'm sorry if I seem like a complete noob, but I am. I need to know how you figure the theoretically ideal distances between the lamp and the condensing fresnel, and the distance between the projection lens and the field fresnel. meanwhile I will continue searching for these answers.
