I want to build an external crossover for my speakers to test different components etc. and not mess with the already existing xo.
what is the best way to run the driver wires out of the cabinet?
im assuming not through the port correct?
thanks !

Would the wires out of the port not interfere with the ports job?
btw Im going to use completely different wire from the drivers to the external xo

Not really, but you can bundle the wires up with zip ties so they lay on the bottom.
And thick wires are not needed, they're short.
Yes, out of the bottom of your ProAc DT8s is the obvious avenue.
Don't use unnecessarily thick wire and you won't upset the port tuning to any audible extent.
yeah the short distances in wire make the thick internal wire kinda negligible and silly. I don’t plan on using thick wire at all. Just good copper wire that is a bit thinner.

good idea for the original wires so they aren’t dangling all over the place.
thanks !
Even solid #20 wire is plenty good enough for a few feet.good idea for the original wires so they aren’t dangling all over the place.

And, meanwhile, you'll only be experimenting with crossover components won't you?
The wires through the port will not be a permanent fixture I would suppose.

Yup , exactly what I was thinking.Even solid #20 wire is plenty good enough for a few feet.
thanks mate!

ha omg no.
that would be pretty gypsy to have the wires out of the port permanently.
The port is the way to deal with reflex cabinets, and for sealed ones, one can fabricate a piece of wood/whatever to substitute for original terminal, and run the wires through.what is the best way to run the driver wires out of the cabinet?
