I'm really at a dead end here, really with no place ot begin. i have my materials and whatnot i need a basic layout of hwo ot build a slot-ported enclosure for one 12" 450 watt lanzar se12. i have a sealed box currently with a shade over 1.0 ft3 and its performing nicely, but i recently upgraded to a 1500w amplifier and well i need to share that power with somethign so as not to make the pretty smoke emanate from my nice little box. if anyone could help i would go nuts with joy. i would like to tune this box to around 40 or 50 hz and i just need to know how long and tall the port area should be, without losing all my hatch space. pleeeeeaaaaseee! help me!
Just turn down your amp....
I mean, good heavens... 1500 watts would be enough to absolutely level your car... you almost certainly don't need more than 100 unless you're going to be breaking eardrums from across the street...

You have power to wast here. You could consider a isobarik enclosure wich practicaly disminish the size requirement by a factor of 2. In a car a half sized box is always fun.
Well, if you are worried about power, the sealed box will be better at handling it than the ported one, as long as the speaker is designed for sealed use. You can design the ported box according to the manufacturer's specs with any software program around, but the fun part comes after you get the specs for the port. all you have to do is alter the shape of the post from round to rectangular, using basic math to calculate the total volume of the port to ensure proper box tuning. Cheers!
