thanks for the link to the other source for those drivers..
So the 25 are much heavier and larger than the 20's?
how did they sound in that amazing box you built?? wow that is an epic design!!
The TABAQ sounds great! look up the original TABAQ thread on the forum to see all the happy people who built the project. Very flat response down to about 80Hz. My fold has the port on the front, which I prefer, but the original fold has it on the bottom or top depending which way up you put the speaker. And you can also build it as a straight tower. So I did the fold, but the idea is not mine, it's the brain child of Bjorn Johannesen.
The 3FE22 is the neo version, and the 3FE25 is the ferrite version, so yes the 25 is much bigger. In fact the magnet is positively gigantic compared to the tiny driver, only maybe 2mm less in diameter than the cut out, so trying to fit the drivers from the front of the baffle after wiring can be tricky. I make my cut out like attached with my CNC, with a little notch at the bottom, to make it work.

ah thanks
could guess?
You can measure TS params. I've never done it, and it takes special kit...
Where do you see this? I must be blind.

ah ok...
is there not a way to guess a ball park are from the dimensions and materials used on the driver? Surely based on that one can make something vaguely decent sounding, with common sense and estimations?

Ah ok so I want to make two tiny cube speakers for my 2. system. Closed back and down to 100hz is fine. So I guess really I want the neo versions?
thats the qts not the qtc?

Honestly, I don't know. There are more than a few designs, like the TABAQ, that you can try just about any driver of a certain size in, though you still want to know the TS params as there are some that may be that size but still don't work. As far as a sealed box, every calculator I've seen needs TS params to calculate the right size. I'll leave it to the more technically knowledgeable members of the forum to explain further...
On the other hand, with the Faitals only £21/pair, why not just grab a pair, and then you have the params to design a correct sealed box. BTW the size of the sealed box (for max bass response) is not driven by the size of the magnet, but by the specs, so you could check the params of both the 25 and the 22 and see if there is a massive difference in the size of box for each...

It is not that straightforward. Here are the figures I got with a calculator using the manufacturers specs.
3FE25:
Qtc 1.0 Net volume 1.0 litre. F3 131 Hz
Qtc 0.8. Net volume 2.77 litres F3 119 Hz
3FE22:
Qtc 1.0 Net volume 0.37 litre. F3 183 Hz
Qtc O.8 Net volume 0.69 litre. F3 167 Hz

No one cannot.

Closed back and down to 100hz is fine
Sealed. 100Hz. 3FE. Very unlikely.
Sim suggests 50 litres to get butterworth Q and bass (F3) of about 110 Hz. F10 in the low 60s.
2 litre box is a bit higher F3, f10 in the mid 70s.
The 2.5 liter µFai-Ken will meet you needs (and then a bit). Look like this (a particualrily nice set), but with the 3FE.

I am new to this (and tbh just skimmed this thread, apologies for any repetition), but i would back the 3fe25.
For cheap, the sealed mini karlsonators (0.4x version).
You can make them out of foamboard. All the plans are there.
It is all laid out for you.
It gives an entry level into what they sound like.
Then when you read what people are saying about them, it gives a frame of reference as well.
You can always repurpose the faitals after, they have a bunch of uses it seems.
Like the frugel horns.
(they are the only speakers I have made so far 🙂 )

Cheap and Good?? Buy a pair of TC9 speakers .. a whole 10 bux each.
Buy a sheet of Dollar store foamboard (1$ ) and the 2 $ Hot glue gun kit needed.
Cut out and glue together a suitable pair of Bass reflex boxes of suitable size etc.
These will work Fine by Any yardstick. Surprisingly Fine actually
Yeesss.. there are better /more detailed speakers .. always are.
Although not 'that' much better , absolutely not for less than 25$ and a a couple / 3 hours effort.. start to finish .
Your choice.

ok thanks a lot I will check out the things you reference if I decide to upgrade yeah thats the kinda price I am looking for haha. I didnt know foam board existed so thanks again..
after upgrading my amp I am quite happy with th sound I am getting outa my bass face speakers but probably need an upgrade for sure...

Cheap yes. Good no. Might as well spend th emoney on Lattes.

Thanks for the advice in the uk seems the ones we are talking about above are gonna be the best cheapest ones.. they are made in italy.. 3fe25 faitial pro.. I think the guy above is saying what I am thinking which seems a little closed box would be super simple and I don't need it to extend low for bass response as I am using it for 2.1 with a sub.. sub would be another relatively simple thing to upgrade and build on the cheap I bet my system would sound amazing even with the fatial pro which are very cheap! Would probably cost me about £30 to make them! at the moment I am enjoying this amazingly cheap set up hahaha always so chuffed with my super cheap diy set ups so much pleasure for such little cost 😉
other wise to upgrade the two speakers on my desk maybe a pair of satellite speakers from a 5.1 set up.. Was eyeing up some Tannoys.. Tannoy FX 2x Surround Home Cinema Satellite Speakers Silver | eBay
would a sub built with this enclosure be a bunch of crap or you think an upgrade to my panazoi hi fi sub?? at least it would be a 10 inch driver might get some more sub frequencies.. Nice if it went down to 30hz 😉..
It is a sealed enclosure.. doesnt that mean its harder for the driver to reach sub frequencies?
Will it be awful if I just buy a 10 inch driver an chuck into this cheap enclosure? I can out foam all inside it...
