Is a chip and tube MPX decoder still topic here? Or, as the thread already appears to be derailed somewhat, what about tubes only decoders? For instance, currently there's a chassis # 6/634 by German manufacturer Nordmende (from Tannhäuser radios or Arabella consoles) sitting at my workbench that surprisingly doesn't notably increase noise when it's decoder switches to stereo reproduction. It's got a single ECC81/12AT7 tube and many Ge diodes, but also inductors and resonant circuits, hence needs alignment.
