Well, after amost 2 weeks of hard work, my dac seems to be working alright.
Connected it half an hour ago and already there are sounds or cues in familiar recordings which were not apparent with my other dac. And bass is fantastic.

Its sound seems smooth and musical no harshness or digital artifacts so far.

For now I am listening cd's in my transport. I wil connect my JLSounds usb card thru the spdif input to listen to music in my MacBook. I have to figure out how to connect it so I can listen to 32 384 dsd etc... BTW, the dac board is inder the IVY
board, I screwed up the installation of the pin connectors, put them in thecwrong side of one of the boards and did not want to go into removing and reinstalling them.

Congratulations, Manolo

It sounds like the Buffalo has had a good first impression for You.

Its sound seems smooth and musical no harshness or digital artifacts so far.

That is what I am hoping this DAC will do for my system also.

What are the other components in your system? I see some tube gear in the photo. :bulb:

Also, what are the other DAC or DACs You have upgraded from?

Look forward to hearing about more impressions, as the Buffalo's sound settles into your system.

P.S. I am a little jealous You got yours working, as I am still trouble shooting my build. But your successful build does give me hope and encouragement. 😉

What happened to the transformer outputs you were planning?

Hi Magz: Ordered the Ivy output stage. For now I'll use this. Later on I'll experiment with the transformers. Decided to go at first with the "stock" kit though I did not know for sure how would the build go.

And Allen, what you see is a Supratek Chardonnay linestage and a 47Lab Shigaraki cd transport. The rest of the system consists of a First Watt F4 stereo amp and Spatial Holograms 4 with Vandersteen sw. I also use Quads 988.
