How budget is budget? Www.Tubedepot.com and www.tubesandmore.com both sell a very good beginner tube amp kit for about $200. One carries the K-502 and the other the K12- M. They are nearly identical, same topology but slightly different tubes. There are lots of chassis ideas at the sister site DIY AUDIO PROJECTS - Do-It-Yourself Hi-Fi for Audiophiles as well as reviews and mods for these kits. They only make about 5 watts (rated at 8) but sound very good for an entry level tube amp. I have built 3, one from the kit and two from scratch using the schematics. I love this little amp.
