So I seemed to have pulled on one of the wires on my toroidal transformer, and it broke off.. Whoops 🙁 haha
Anyone know if I can just solder it back on? Would hate to have wasted $80 on it 😕
Do I just cut through the plastic covering it?
Cheers 🙂

If you can re-attach it to where it broke off, without damaging adjacent windings or insulation, then you should be OK. If there is no stub left to attach to, then this is unlikely.
That's the problem with solid single core copper wire. When flexed it fatigues and eventually breaks.
Best to change transformer wires to flex to avoid this fatiguing problem.
But you will probably have to remove the insulation around the leadouts to get adequate access to repair or replace.
And then have wind carefully wind all the insulation back on before using.

It's not clear from your picture which wire is broken.
If it's a primary (240 Volt) you are probably screwed as they are usually put on first. If it's a secondary, you may be in luck but be very careful doing what Andrew & DF96 have advised. I am in Southwest Sydney if you require assistance.

When soldering, you must be very careful not to damage adjacent wires or accidentally solder to two wires. A shorted turn is very easy to achieve, but I guess as the transformer is otherwise junk anyway you might as well take the risk.
