Hi Everyone,
I have an old Technics SL-P10 at home. At the moment it's only as a "visual element" on top of my audio rack.
During past weeks I have been wondering, if it's possible to bring it back to life.
Its laser has been dead for years and replacement laser or optical pickup is no longer available.
Technical description:
Sampling frequency 44.1kHz
Error correcting system Technics super decoding algorithm
DA conversion 16-bit linear line
Frequency characteristic 4Hz - 20kHz
Dynamic range 90dB or more
SN ratio 90dB or more
THD 0.004% or less (1kHz, 0dB)
Channel separation 90dB or more
Wow and flutter Quartz-crystal precision
Laser Ssheme Astigma 3 beam
Light source Semiconductor laser
Wavelength 800nm
Output voltage A 150mV (-20dB) variable
Power source AC100V, 50Hz/60Hz
I have been wondering about 3 options:

I have been wondering about 3 options:
- to replace the laser with some random 780nm laser
- to replace the optical pickup with Sony KSS213
- to replace the whole transport with Philips CD-Pro2

Yes, most likely option one is not the easiest way.
SL-P10 uses one of a kind pickup SRUD010N01Z which looks like this:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
If you really want to have this cd player working again, your best and most cost-effective way is to simply buy another, even if it is a parts unit. Try Ebay or Craigslist.
Good luck
Good luck
SL-P10 is know for it's unreliable laser. So there will be a problem with buying another similar player for spares, because sooner or later that laser will also die.
I guess I'm willing to spend upto 500€ on that project, but before buying any parts I want to be sure that salvaging my cd-player is possible.
