Not unusually big - the efficiency is the same as a normal class AB amp. BTW I have changed the load to a more real-world 2.8 ohm + 2.8 ohms J so the current lags by 45 degrees. This works out to 4 ohms impedance. Resistive loads are just plain wussy for an amplifier to drive.
The curves below are:
Red - output voltage across load.
Green - Power across resistive portion of load.
Blue - dissipation in one mosfet, peak for SOAR, mean for heatsinking.
Black - load current.
DC input power would be 252.4 + 79.17 + 79.16 + opamp power dissiation.

Re: Mmmm..... symmetry....
Hi
It work ?
It is possible to use OPA541/9 for drive MJL3281 ?
thx

Well, it's been 6 whole years since I cooked up these circuits and I =still= haven't tried them out. Am I slack or what?
Yes!!!Well, it's been 6 whole years since I cooked up these circuits and I =still= haven't tried them out. Am I slack or what?
OTOH, that was only 3 posts ago..
😀
Output waveform either side of load.
Hi,
I also made a model, becouse I was thinking, that the crossover distortion will be quite much.
And here we go. 10 kHz and the xover distortion is huge (between the opamps and the MOSFETs)
i dont know any method to avoid it....
any toughts?
BTW I dont know, how the output graphs were so good from your simulation... Oh yeah at 1 kHz it looks good... Now I know...
cheers,
Tamas
