Bridge rectifier - confusion

Hi,

I am drawing up a parts list for a gainclone, and will probably go for a bridge rectifier configuration.

The bridge rectifier has two ac inputs, and a negative / positive output.

Do I need dual secondaries and two rectifiers for +- supply ?

Also does the negative need to be grounded to centre tap ?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

You need dual secondaries, OR, 1 center-tapped secondary. You do not need 2 bridge assemblies. In the case of dual secondaries, you will need to carefully observe the "phasing" when creating your center tap. The "dotted" end of one secondary must connect to the UNdotted end of the other.

Draw 2 cap in series where you presently show one. Connect the center tap to the node (junction) between the two caps.

🙂

Thanks.

Should that node between the two caps become the star earth ?
