Never used, Ortofon 2M Red. $80 + Ship. Comes with all documentation, box, screw driver, new studs.

The story - read a bit on the 2M series and was curious...So I bought one locally. Plan was to mount it to my Pro-Ject RM-5.1 table. The Ortofon cart came with mounting screws. The stylus was removed to install the cart body, so as to not damage it. The two studs were carefully threaded through the TT arm integrated head-shell (Pro-Ject 9cc arm) and into the cart body. I set the screws semi tight, so I can set its final position in the head shell with a protractor. I properly aligned the cart to arm and began tightening screws. I tightened the first one with no issues, but while tightening the second one, the stud snapped. I was not applying much force, as the arm is quite fragile. I now had an Ortofon 2M Red cart that could not be mounted to any head-shell, as the stud was sheared off and in the cart body, with no way to remove..

I called the local shop where I purchased it (Audio Consultants) and they said there is nothing they can do (other than sell me a replacement cart), and advised me to look up online and email Ortofon directly. They also indicated they have no rep that they can refer me to. I guess the Ortofon carts they sell just fall out of the sky? Not even a support rep's contact info? Go Pound Sand? Really?

Anyway, I found the Ortofon rep online and within hours they gave me an RMA and sent it off, and in less than a week, got a new Unit.

Vent Font On - I can get better support off some joe blow on ebay. Why bother supporting local business that couldn't care less about their customers? They would have easily obtained a replacement body from Ortofon, but I guess its too cheap and not worth their while to assist me for a $100 cart. - Vent Font Off...

Anyway, while awaiting the 2M Red to arrive, I bought a 2M Bronze, so up she goes...
