BOZ vs B1

After all these read/talk , i think B1 has nothing to do in my setup , maybe an BOZ , but i would prefer think about my DAC output opamps to be upgrade , the TDA 1547 has some lack in that matter !!!

Tanks for all your help ;-)

.
if you don't need extra gain and you don't need a volume control then you definitely do not need a BOZ.

A Buffer , or gain stage with low output impedance, is only required at the output of a source when that source is not capable of driving the cables that follow it.

If your source can drive the cables that follow it, then you don't need a low output impedance gain stage.

Actually i cant say that i dont need some extra gain, i dont know what is my gain chain

the only thing i know is the output of the dac is low distortion at 1 v , which , i am affraid it's not much to drive the F6 .

as said before , the volume control is digital made , so i dont need one more on the analog side .

i may need a pre-amp , but one who replace the TDA 1547 ones , that are knwon to be a bit crapy !!!

so , every good advice in that matter will be very nice and appreciate 😎

the DAC goes straigth to the F6 , and the dac volume is ,as said before just over the midle ( 1 v output ) , and it's ok like this , but the F6 likes more volts to gives its best .

anyway , the way to go it's the dac output stage upgrade , i have heard about some mods made on the TDA1547 ( DAC7), but i have no idea where to start !!

i will search till i find 😉

I wanted to say "middle" , or half , or 50 % , it's not important 🙄

everything as been said ....

Tank's to you all 🙂

this sounds like you are saying you listen with the volume control about half way round.

That means you have more gain than you need for that listening session.
You have at least 6dB more volume to go.

You don't need a gain stage/pre-amplifier.

Look at it from the other end.
Connect your quietest source signal. Turn the volume up to maximum. Is it now too loud, just right, or too quiet?

Build the BA3 FE for preamp. It makes short work, in my opinion and experience, of both the B1 and the zen. I found the B1 to sound great, until I tried something of comparable sound quality with gain, which made it sound thin in comparison.

Everyone will have an opinion which may or may not agree, but I find B1 sounds better than volume control alone, (passive...B1 is not passive, it just has no gain) I find BA3 to sound far better in same set up.

This held true, for me anyway, with various speaker from 85 dB efficiency, to Altecs with over 100 dB efficiency, and several in between.

I guess I like some gain. needed or not.
