Hey all, I've never posted but I read the board everyday, so Hello! I built a Zen amp two years ago and have quite enjoyed it, I have recently built some basszilla speakers and have had the BOZ preamp 90% done for sometime, now I want to get it done, but I have a question about mounting the transistors. On my circuit board I only have source and gate holes, what do I do with the drain? Do I gound it to the TO220, and what is the proper way to mount the heat sinks to the board. I've done a few searches but must be looking in the wrong direction, any help would be great. Thanks Rip
Where does the Drain connect to, according to the schematic?
- that would be the right place to attach the drain
-if it is to Ground, it is probably grounded via the heatsink
-the body of transistor is the same as the drain-Pin

Ya the Drain does go to ground, but I'm confused about how to connect the drain to the ground? Oh, the body is the same as ground, thanks
As the body must have electrical contact with heatsinkRip said:Ya the Drain does go to ground, ... the body is the same as ground, thanks
You should NOT use any isolation.
The heatsink is in contact with amplifiers case
which is connected to Ground, hopefully.
The drain-pin can be cut, so that about 4 mm is left.
That makes it easier to solder the other 2 pins, if you are using short wires to connect to board.
Keep wires as short as possible.
