Wolf,
Now that I see them along with other "standard" speakers, I can see that these are really compact... (and these are 3 way speakers) 🙂
Jim,
Thanks for sharing your listening impressions.

Kudos, impressive high value build. I'm currently going down the same road with regard to compactness and high value components on my latest design, but no where near as compact as what you've managed to do with these! I hadn't seen the midrange you used before, but after checking it out I will have a pair in my hands shortly. Have a great holiday weekend. Jason
Thanks, fellas!
Update, these were judged a 129 out of 180 at the recent Speaker Design Competition for Parts Express in the <$300 category (1st place was a 152).
One attendee asked if I sold my soul to get bass response like that out of something so small. Then another piped in that I always seem to do that and that he doesn't know how I do it.
It's nice when you can slash preconceived notions of how something will sound.

"Audible Physics 220CP1 8ohm from Newark"
I measured these little guys and have been listening to them on their own. No bass but mids and treble are good
I plan to use them with a woofer to cover above 6-700 hz
My measurements are attached.
I'm using a preamp with bass, mid and treble controls. The black curve is with tone controls flat. The other curves show off axis to 45 deg and with some mid and treble cut..

Looks like you have the same small peak in the 2-4k range that I got. It's about the only FR anomaly.
Sound great though, don't they? I still say this mid is the star of this show....

They do sound great. I'm keen on hearing them in a developed speaker. If all good, planning to build a few pairs.
These are outdoor measurements. First one is 220CP at 1M. The second one is 220cp at 2cm
The 1M measure looks really good with not much bump. The nearfield has the bump.. Hmmm!
They also sound good with the measurement signal.
Looks like they'll work well with Dayton DC160-8 - 3rd graph
