So I really like the sound of the BOSOZ but I also like the ambience of my old ST70 in the bedroom. (kinda like a bedroom fireplace). I'm just a tag along with no design capability yet, but I would like to rebuild the front end of the ST70 to accept balanced input. Does anyone have any design suggestions? X-tube maybe?
Thanks
Thanks
The way I have choose is the transformer one, I mean I use
input transformer in front of input stage of my tube amp
and connected in balanced mode to my BalZen, it works pretty fine.
and sounds good too. Have a look at Lundhal or Sowter and you will
find the transformers you need.
- 10k /10k, 1:1, and a 10k res. connected to the secondary should be a good option.

Thanks Flyinfader,
That's a solution I've considered and might come back to, but in the meantime, if I'm going to spend some money, I'd like to think about something different. I think it was Carpenter that said in a post that appyling X to a tube amp was not so difficult.
I'll be out till late Sunday so thanks for any replies till then.

Try matching the SOBOZ to this beauty, that's what I am up to anyway.

Tube Zen
Anthony,
Tube and mosfet, is that tube zen or Yin Yang? I have'nt done Zen yet so your project might be right for another room. In the meantime, I'm thinking of this driver... as shown on the vacuum state page. But I wonder if it can be x'd?

Here is an almost zero budget input trannie that has gotten good reviews on the JoeList. Follow it with a differential driver stage and away you go.

How about the other way around. Can somebody design a BOSOZ with tubes ? I imagine it should be quite easy. That way you can power an Aleph in the balanced mode which is best. I haven't really researched thoroughly but most tube pre-amps seem to be unbalanced.

Not sure if this fits the bill,
