My Android smartphone is weak in recording loud sound events since it crackles destroying every audio detail. So, I tried to find out a good app to enhance the device's microphones. As a result, I got several apps in which most of them require root access. I don't have root access and I'm not willing to do it. Instead, I got VirtualXposed APK which said to be an app that could run root apps without root access. My question, Is it practically possible to apply sound and volume configuration virtually to be effective on the Android OS?

How "loud"? Dog bark? Jack-hammer in the street? Jack-hammer in your hand? Hot Tuna 1977?
If the hardware is distorting, the software can't fix that.
There are several hand-size "musician's" recorders which do OK up to a Fender Twin amp or rock-dums.

A human mouth an inch or two from the phone's mic is loud. The same voice a few feet from the phone when it's laying on the table in speakerphone mode is lot's quieter at the mic. For this reason there is a Variable Gain Amp in the audio chain far upstream from the ADC. Phones that I worked on 20 years ago had 20 to 30 dB of VGA gain range. This was at Motorola before Android existed.
A modern smartphone will have a similar setup for the same reasons, but the user, or the app may not have access to the VGA's control registers. Apple is famous for blocking users and apps from accessing any of the modem's features, but these are accessible in many Android phones. As you found out root access may be needed on some phones.

I have installed and used volume boosters for one of the tabs I use, it works and did not need to be rooted. I will get the name for you if you want.
