Thanks, looks like I'll be lowering a crossover point to around 5000 hz.I performed a series of directivity measurements (distance 50cm, middle of driver) of the Neo10 to study the effect a baffle would have:

My goal was constant directivity so I decided to use the Neo10 without any baffle with a 24dB/oct LR HP at 400Hz and 24dB/oct LR LP at 2500Hz (see Totem of Tone for details).
Here's the comparison of the responses:

Hope this helps you find the compromise that works best for your system.

I like the Alpair 12P with a little baffle reinforcement - I'm going to trim the sides back along the Neo 10, just a bit.
Very helpful graphs, thanks again.
I would think that the NEO10 should probably go down to 300-400Hz before switching over the big bass driver if it had a baffle. But I do not own one so I wouldn't know for sure.
Normally you would offset from the centre a bit so that the frequency response will balance out in the open baffle.
There is an Italian maker of Hifi speakers that utilizes these drivers for open baffle. But I have forgotten the name.
