Hello!
I needed some additional speaker cables for upcoming FR builds so...
I was a little tired of the typical expandable braided sleeving and had some extra Boat Rope laying around. The rope core is removable leaving an attractive, durable outer tube. Colors / Patterns / Sizes galore to choose from.
4 conductor (per connection) Space Station Wire from NavShips on ebay. It is Nickel Plated and stranded no less. OMG!!!
I wanted to see if I could hear any differences by breaking the rules and going opposite to the CAT 5 route.
I also used 2 layers of adhesive lined heat shrink, and pinched the outer layer together to make a "toe" between black and red.
No Rocket Science here (except the space station wire) but good fun and I like the look. The price was right too.
I think I hear better imaging and really nice soundstage compared to other wire I have. Not sure there is much difference otherwise.
For comparison I have two pair of different gauge Solid Silver Plated DIY Cables, typical Monster Cable, and some Flat Solid Silver Wire Commercial cables (the size of firehoses).
The Miniwatt is about to be replaced with an RH84 in the next few days
Thanks for looking!

That's a neat idea. Remember to color code your cables:
Green = Starboard = Right
Red = Port = Left
Be prepared for sticker shock. Everything in the boat store is pricey.
Also look at climbing rope.

OK, I apologize on the lead edge.
Green=starboard is correct looking over the bow. But you are facing the speakers, so wouldn't it be "red right returning"?

4 conductor 22 awg security alarm hookup wire works very well for full range drivers and is very inexpensive. A 1000 foot roll will probably be more than enough for all the speakers you will ever need in a lifetime for $94. Cable Wholesale 22/4 (22awg 4c) Solid Cm Security Cable, Gray, 1000 Ft, Pullbox (10k4-0421th) -:Amazon:Computers & Accessories
Also it is covered in house-decorative and wife-friendly white jacket. You can run this inside your rope and double up wires if you need more amps.
