Hello guys,
I am working on little project mentioned in title and I am getting some problems with it's design. Sorry for my english, isn't my native.
First of all, here are the parts I am using:
Drivers:
Dayton ND91-4 + 15W fullrange
or (depends on amplifier)
Dayton ND91-4 + 15W tweeter
Passive radiators:
4" - link
3,5" - link - it says that they are 3", but actually 3,5"
Battery:
14,8V Li-Pol 5000mAh
Amplifiers:
TDA7492p + 3000Hz crossover
TPA3116d2
and some of cheap ebay amps like this
So, here is the story.
I am working on it since a long time and now I stopped because of several problems I am trying to figure out.
The whole speaker must be fully portable with great bass. Because of it's design it has to be about ~2L.
It look like this:
#1 Problem - Passive radiators
At this point, bad thing is that the speaker sounds better without any of passives. When I put some good soundproofing material inside, it sound good, even bass is acceptable.
With 3,5" passive radiators on both sides it sound worse and 4" passives are on the 3rd place. This is huge dissapoitment for me, because I thought that passive radiators will boost bass.
#2 and the last, but bigger problem - Amplifier.
The best option for me is an amplifier with bluetooth on board, but it is hard to find the good one.
TDA7492p has no bass for me. It sounds like a crap from volume 7/10 to full. I am using it with tweeter and 3k Hz crossover.
TPA3116d2 which I am using with fullrange sounds pretty good, but it has no bluetooth on board and top/mids are bit bad.
I would appreciate if you could help with these problems. Is there any amp (up to 20$ if possible) that will fit best in this speaker? What is wrong with these passive radiators? May be should I use just one of them, or add some weight? Is there any chances I can rival with at least JBL Charge 2/3?
Best Regards,
Matt
edit:
Is it possible that these amps will improve it?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
