I have these regulated power supply PCBs using LM317 and LM337 chips. Each board is a dual supply, as in it has both +ve and -ve rails. There is a CRC filter at the input for filtering the ripple.
It can do upto 1.5A assuming adequate heatsinking is provided. The chips are mounted at the sides of the boards, so that a lot of different kind of heatsinks can be attached. It can also use those flowery cheap heatsinks.
It can be used for preamps and headphone amps etc. I have used this with 1n4007 and MUR440 diodes. Output voltage is controlled by a 5k trimpot, which can be replaced by a resistor to provide a fixed output. Both rails have individual output indicator led. Input caps are 18 mm dia with 5 and 7.5mm pitch. Output caps are 13 mm dia with 5mm pitch. There are two set of output points to support wiring for two channels, or you can use green terminal blocks for input and output.
It also has protection diodes for the chips as well as a protection diodes to protect the bypass cap discharge going into the adjust pins of the chips. Please see schematic for further details.

This PCB can also be used to make a zener regulated power supply or a capacitance multiplier power supply with a little bit of hacking, nothing very complex.
