You missed the boat I'm afraid. Audionote are now manufacturing their own BG replacements which are supposed to be just as good, fresh (ie recently manufactured) and a fraction of the price that people were asking for NOS BGs.

The Audio Note™ KAISEI Audio Quality Electrolytic Capacitors
The Audio Note™ KAISEI range has been developed over the past 4 years in collaboration with the engineering team at Rubycon (of Black Gate fame). Whilst working on our top of the line Black Gate replacements (which we should releasing toward end of the second half of 2016) we realised that it would be possible to put together a range of more affordable electrolytic capacitors that use all of the same materials as these supreme components (the same special electrolyte, foil and construction quality) apart from the hyper expensive and extremely difficult to produce Graphite impregnated paper, so the only difference between the KAISEI capacitors and the forthcoming Black Gate replacements is that the paper is not graphite impregnated in the KAISEI, otherwise they are the same.
The first Audio Note™ KAISEI range has been available since late September – early October 2014 and started with the following 4 values, we will add a 220uF/500 volt version late 2015 plus bi-polar versions of the 22uF, 50uF and 100uF, so the entire range of KAISEI capacitors will be available in both polarised and non-polarised (bi-polar).
An analysis of the cost of the KAISEI capacitors unfortunately showed a higher cost than expected, so we have to raise the prices, here are the new prices, valid from June 1, 2015.
Same same but different ! That expensive graphite impregnated paper defines identity and quality of Black Gate caps. I recently read that the graphite was falling down out the paper because of age. All nonsense to cover up and sell more of the replacements. Now they start warning for fakes (production stopped many years ago) right when they offer their own caps. How thoughtful !
Never had a BG cap failing, never had better performing caps too.

Is that 'life span - 25 to 30yrs' back dated to when they were manufactured, or from when they were first energized?.

Good question. Normally the term "shelf life" is used but BG datasheets and "papers" are a bit strange compared to industrial data sheets, not to say they are quite useless. I take some of the parameters with a pinch of salt as it is too coincidental that parameters are often in multiples of 10. They did not have the best technical writer then 😉 Those that have measured them found that they indeed perform very good so one tends to forget the crappy data sheets and just accept the quality of the caps.
I assume they mean after first energising and at max. parameters but I am not sure. Anyway, I haven't found any of them (regardless of series) that is less performing than when I bought them. What I do know for sure is that they are sensitive for overvoltage. It won't hurt to energise new/unused caps once in a while with a series resistor and discharge them with a resistor.

Yes PEH-169 are just damn good caps. Up to 38000 hours at 85 degree, very low ESR and very high ripple capacity. Dont come much better, but thay cost a fraction of the 1500$ asked for the blackgates ...... but maybe it's bacause they havent printed "Audio" on the cans 😀I sold off all my WKZ after I tried Rifa PEH169.
Maybe because they don't have the graphite impregnated paper that makes BG's work till the GHz range. Odd comparison as PEH-169 (fine caps) are not made 500V rated....

Mine are 68uF rated at 450V and quite tolerant of momentary voltage spikes. I got a box of them for a great price on fleabay a few years back.
The PEG124 are available from RS. I used them when refurbishing an old Classe pre and a Superphon pre. I didn't compare them to anything else at the time as their main attraction was the long service life. It would be interesting to compare them to BG N (which I really like) and FK.

Are there any measurements available which supports that?Maybe because they don't have the graphite impregnated paper that makes BG's work till the GHz range.
Or just measurements that they fare better than other electrolytic caps on this point.
We are talking impedence vs. freq I would guess.
I googled as I know they were measured but can't find it. Jan Didden tested them , I think ?!? They measured fine AFAIK but those were STD series. It starts with the N series to be real good. I have a fancy new DER LCR meter and a stock of NOS BG but I am afraid I don't have the time....
