If your room will support it a bipole has some significant advantages prime of which are NO bafflestep and the potential to push-push mount the drivers so as to actively cancel driver vibrations -- which means less box sound (or less box).
The TLb is an example and this FR bi-pole is an experimental design i am waiting for drivers to arrive (take a look at the results from Steven's experiments at the bottom)
