Hi all. I recently received these in trade myself. They all test good, many test nos, and I think I only found 2 loose bases in the whole lot. Looking for trade on directly heated triodes, transformers (input, output, power), possibly speakers, parts for building other VT amps, etc. let me know what you have. Anyone that works on old radios, this lot would be perfect. Oh, and I'm not using them so please feel free to shoot me any offer no matter how small. Here's the list of what there is:

Ok, let me know, and thanks all.

Hmm...nope, still doesn't make sense. I'm sorry you don't understand that I'm looking for a trade. ?? Lots of good stuff here. Nope, no 300b's for your SE amp or 6v6's for your guitar amp...but plenty of stuff to make a fine amp anyway if ya know what your doing. Cheers all

Hi Loren,
Most of these are television tubes, with a few industrial ones sprinkled in. There are some radio tubes, but very few actually useful audio tubes. I wish I had better news for you. Then you're going to ship all those fragile glass things. It would only make sense for local pickup.

I guess these are all pulls? None new or in boxes? It might also help to know whether they were tested using an emission tester, or one that measures trans-conductance.

Now, I have use for a few numbers that are odd, like 6W6 types (power supply) and the odd 6AC7. However, I am across the border and that puts me out even for a couple of tubes. You really are stuck with US buyers, and even then most of those tubes are best used for target practice. Well, maybe that's harsh. You get my meaning though. In all honesty, that tube collection would be great for someone who likes to experiment with tubes. You've got a large cross-section of tube types to explore. I have a similar collection amassed from tubes included with what I wanted over the years. Couldn't bring myself to trashing them, and since I tool up radio repairs, many actually turned out to be useful! I was surprised to find that out.

I hate to ask, but what did that trade look like from your side? What did you give up, and what did you end up getting? I am hoping that you didn't assign much value to the tubes you got.

Hi Chris

No offense. I know, I know. There were a few I kept. A 45, few 80 and 83, few 33 and 76, bunch of vt-1625's, some 6j5's, you get it. The rest, as you said, would be perfect for someone to experiment there's enough here to rectify, regulate, and build an amp (I mean the types). I traded an old sansui I got for $10 at a garage sale, and even then I only did it to make someone happy 🙂.

Let me be more clear in case anyone is wondering. I'm not looking for peerless transformers here. Throw me a choke, or some old Magnavox opt's, a pair of 5687's, you know....and I'm happy. This isn't turn crap into gold, this is stoke someone who still works with these because I only work with audio. Ya, there's plenty for audio applications (like I said regulators, rectifiers, etc.) but I already have a way more than I need.

Oh, and they were tested on a hickok 605 for transconductance, shorts, and grid emissions. Lots are pulls and lots are nos, I'd say 2 out of 3 are pulls.

That answer everything? 🙂 And thank you,

Loren C.

Hi Loren,
I think you answered everything that needed to be answered. Now folks will know what ballpark you're in. The tube tester gives reasonable numbers as well.

I would say that your expectations are fair enough. Hopefully you can make a deal on these. Honestly, if I had the iron you want and were local, I'd do the trade.

-Chris
