Ah, a week of roughing it! Camping with the boys, beer and tube audio..... at least until the generator runs out of fuel 😀
Then we get Cal to crank the generator

Almost there...
Most of you will be expecting diyAudio to be upgraded (as advertised) right about now. In fact, you were probably expecting it to happen this time last month. Or even 4 years ago. I'm sorry to report that this isn't going to happen now for a "few weeks".
I take the blame for this myself. I've grossly underestimated the amount of time required to manage the development and maturation of diyAudio. I'd hoped things would “just” go smoothly, problems would work themselves out in a natural fashion, and it hasn't happened that way.
I offer you my apologies and understand any skepticism. I care very much about this forum. While it's great that for all these years we've had a stable server, good uptime, and no serious problems, diyAudio could be so much more and you deserve it. As of next week I'm going to be personally spending the bulk of my own time managing the evolution of diyAudio until we get it to where we want to be. I thank you for your understanding and patience, and hope that you will stay for what I think will be a really wonderful journey to grow something we all feel very passionate about.

Jason can't entirely take the blame - I have been doing what I can but a black comedy of unfortunate health (my gall bladder had to be removed last year), natural (I was hit by lightning late last year, then early this year we had the biggest flood in the history of this city followed more recently by 2 or 3 cyclones / hurricanes that narrowly missed us), and man made disasters (I was in a train accident a few months ago and sustained an ongoing shoulder injury) have conspired to make the trip to our goal windy and not straight.
Jason & AudioFreak ........ just take your time .....
it's certainly (more than ) good enough even now ........ we can wait for "even better" .........
like kids for new bicycle ......... "for birthday....... not earlier "
we'll get to that bike eventually , and that 's important .... and birthday is - when birthday is ....... , not earlier

Jason and Dan and others involved in the 'upgrade'............you do not have to apologise like this to everyone. You guys have done a great job so far . With all the hurdles you have been facing I think it's an incredible job.
The forum is doing very well exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge . So any 'upgrade' is not urgently required . Missing the target date is not new and I've seen large companies missing theirs many times.
So take your time and do the 'upgrade' only when you can complete the job reasonably fault free . Debugging after everyone gets on board will be a big problem.
Wish you all the best and sort out the issues comfortably.

As a suggestion, could we have a warmer background color, pale sand color is my prefered one, the current bluish being not very kind to my poor eyes ?
I agree on both posts. Been searching for something like this for years and just discovered it today. Thanks for all the hard work.

Not good enough - I call for at least four weeks in the sinbin. Oh, wait - would that affect the upgrade delay? Never mind, then.

Seriously, given the amount I pay you guys to do this stuff, I personally have zero expectations and am delighted that the site exists in almost any form, let alone one as good as this (easily the best forum I've ever used). As well, I'd rather see a seamless transition a few months from now, than a rushed and botched one sooner.
Thanks for all your work to date, and I look forward to the upgrade when it arrives.
Regards.

Your life sounds like the plot to a movie I was watching last night. Best lay low and not worry about things here for a while.

Indeed...I second that all the way.
Cheers
AudioFreak,
Knowing what it feels like when life decides to throw big stuff at you , I offer my sympathy. Don't beat yourself up over the delay , it will happen when it happens. I know how much is involved as I run a much smaller forum which is demanding enough !!
This site is one of my favourites although due to other comittments and projects (a personal CHP system being the main culprit) has meant I don't visit as often as I'd like. Yours and all the other's involved have my appreciation and admiration and I greatly look forward to the overhauled site.

Don't apologize and don't stress over things you cannot accept responsibility for, weather is weather and there is lots of it at the moment.
When it happens it happens, T-shirts and all.

Is it realistic to run a mirror site of the old rather than another site operating as a short term continuation only; just in case the new final site crashes. Or alternatively just keep the old site going while the new is being put in place and the bugs removed ?
Either way - best of luck !
Either way - best of luck !
