qty (2) JBL K-151 18" Alnico new professionally re-coned with 16ohm cones.

For Sale: The King of Alnicos!

These Legendary JBL Alnico series only manufactured for a few years as JBL decided to switch to cheaper materials and magnets. Search the intraweb for lots of positive discussion of these JBL legendary "K" series speakers. Professionally re-coned with proper manufactured recommended cones with a few minor modifications. Changed to 16ohms and a slightly lighter spider to increase speed and compatibility with low watt tube amps. These are fabulous in both open baffle or direct radiator cabinets.
The attached specs are for the factory original 8ohm and slightly different as discussed above. The Jamin Jersey photograph is not of these speakers but to show value of a comparable sale.

Here are notes from Speaker re-coner extraordinaire Alan Helms:

"The coils you will remember, are a copper flat wound coil but with a bit less windings then the winding with of a standard K151, and are new. The suspension is a 'D' temper which is stiff, but not like E temper the other JBL 18's use. Yours are more compliant. Due to your request of the lightest weight possible in the diaphragm assembly. In the end they perform pretty much the same as the standard K151 coning, I've seen the graphs, pretty much spot on but with a bit better sensitivity."- Alan.

qty (1) Altec 291- 16B 1.4" throat 16ohm diaphragms.

For sale is 1 (one) alnico compression driver. Measure's at 11ohms. Aftermarket diaphragm. Sounds great

qty (1) Altec 291-16K 1.4" throat 16ohm diaphragms compression driver.

Although the label says "291-16B" I believe this to be mislabeled and to actually be a "K" which is the Ferrite Magnet version of the 291... whereas the "B" is Alnico.

Measures 11ohms and posses a very strong magnet. Aftermarket diaphragm. Sounds great.

Altec 802B qty (2) Vintage Compression Drivers

Perfectly matched 2 new 16ohm GPA diaphragms for sale. Last year one of the original diaphragms died. I sent to GPA for a new diaphragm install . They now have matching new GPA diaphragms, a fresh remag and a recent check up from Bill/GPA. With shipping ($25 one way) and installation, these cost around $200/ea. I speak from a experience, buying 60 year old compression drivers on ebay is a crap shoot... even with dcr readings, which I have also learned, wont tell you what kind of shape they are in. These have been fully serviced by the only person in the world you should trust with Altec drivers, vintage or new. They are plug n play and ready to go for many decades of proper use. Shipping $25 per unit in USCON. Will ship separately for safest travels. I have used these for 6 or 7 years. Not sure what happened the 60 years before I had them but they've only seen low watt tube amps from me. They sound marvelous and enjoyed every minute with them. Simultaneously super dynamic and naturally smooth. Jazz horns on these have no peer. Both of these drivers measure the same and sound identical to me. I also have qty (1) original diaphragm. Please inquire upon interest.

Emilar EH-500 Horns qty (2)

2" throat. One of the best 2" horns out there. Lots of intraweb info out there. They are black Eh-500 without the "EMILAR" lettering. Pictured on the open baffele cabinets below. They are in good shape with some signs of age but with out major blemishes.

Notes:

I have hundreds of positive and perfect feedback and 20 years of history on Ebay and Audiogon and can provide that info if needed.

As you probably know, all these drivers are big and heavy, so manage your shipping expectations. Buyer to pay all shipping and associated costs. Will be packed robustly and require buyer to buy full carrier insurance and duties.

Not crazy about using online payment services but will if I have to. I live near Atlanta and willing to drive within reason.

I will entertain trades. Analogue: arms, cartridges, LP collection, UltraSonic record cleaner. Speaker Drivers: Altec 755A, Western Electric 728B, various Field Coil spkrs. Audio Note Cables. Maybe exotic caps. Try me.

Open Baffle cabinet and 1st and 2nd order 700Hz XO available as well. Cabinet is raw but slap a veneer on this pig and you'll be fly! Or just use it to experiment with like I did.
