Upstairs BIB cabinet has to be smaller, for Scottmoose, is the following inside size measurement OK for FE107E?
official recommendation:
L = (Line length) 85in
Zdriver = Driver 17" down from sealed end of cabinet
Sm = 49in^2
mine: (inside measurements)
width: 7", length: 7"
height: 50" (not sure how to figure from line length)
speaker placement: 17" from top.
thanks, should keep me busy for couple of weekends... I have some more ideas on how to further improve my cabinet. This is addicting...

Somewhere in the thick of the big BiB thread, Scottmoose had made suggested dims for HiVi B3S drivers that were tiny.
Line length 67"
zDriver 13.5"
SM 25"^2
I'm thinking I'll knock together a pair of these once my time and budget get unfrozen (looks like after the holidays at this point). I think I would build them floor loaded given how small they are.

Just divide the length by 2 to get the cabinet height. It's not exact, but it's close enough. Ratio of width to depth ideally wants to be 1:1.4142, or as close as reasonably possible to it. I'd use a width of 6in x 8.5in deep (internal, not including the internal baffle). Terminate the baffle 4.25in from the internal front, rear and floor.

Great, thanks.

You might want to consider some Aurasound or TangBand drivers in place of the Hi-Vi's. They cost a little more, but can put out much more sound than the Hi-Vi's.
As long as I can fit them into a 4' tall floor loaded BiB, I would love to. I just don't have any way of specing cabs for new drivers. You wouldn't happen to have BiB dims for any of the 3" Aurasounds, would you, Spasticteapot?

Scott, was this for me (FE107E)? or B3S speakers from another person?

I'm afraid I'm just as much of a n00bie as you are.
If you're interested in a slightly smaller horn setup that won't break the bank, google the PAWO horns. They're about 4' tall, 1.5' wide, and about eight inches thick. I'm having a pair made.
There's a variant on the plans for a 4.5" FR driver that was custom-ordered by a guy in Oregon. They're 20$ each - quite reasonable - and although simple in construction (paper cone, rubber surround), they're supposed to perform at least as well as a FE107 and can give bass down to 60hz with ease.
Bit small for a BIB I'm afraid. Kill zone for those comes in with 4.5in - 7in drivers. Big ones are great of course, but tend to be very big. 4in ones can be magical too, but getting the load right is tricky. Most 3in units have too high an Fs.
The Aurasound NS3-193-8A has an fs of 80hz according to their website or 86.5 according to Zaph. I for one would be willing to build one as I have a few of these sitting around if someone wished to give me a starting point. Zaph said that these were the only three inch drivers that he felt actually made bass.
So be it. Try a 90in line with a Zdriver of 18.5in and a terminus area of 28in^2. Might need damping down a bit. Should get you a decent 60Hz or so.
That's right around the dims for FE103/107 and FF125 . . . looks like an easy place to build a cab for some smaller driver rolling.
