I made one for the FE164, and then swapped in the FE166ES-R. I liked it very much even though the FE164's box was not optimal for the 166ES-R. The bass was spacious and "open." Same driver in the Austin 166 was tighter, smoother, "drier" but the BiB splashed a lot of sound through the whole room which I found delightful.
I fiddled around with the Jordan JX92S in a BiB, and in terms of deep, deep bass, I found that better fro home theater purposes. BiB is arguably the easiest design to get right as long as you can build one tall enough to take good advantage of the ceiling corner, in my limited experience.

Interesting comment, rj - i'll check out the differencies in specs for the 164 vs. 166 ES-R and see if I can find a calculator for BIB some where.
Thanks Old, is this the "current" one? The good stuff? I have seen and tried many calculators for other types (not BIB) and it seems to be quite a few versions, often giving different and unreliable results...
Very nice and instructive illustrations, BTW.
I shall enter the necessary info and see where it gets me. Hopefully these drivers will be inside sensible limits for this type of construction.

Honestly, I'm not aware of any other BiB calculators, but I'm a noob to all this. However, I used the calculator linked to verify the numbers in this http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full...reference-shielded-full-range-drivers-10.html project and came up with the same numbers posted 2 years ago ... I think you're safe with current.
FWIW, I've only begun stuffing those cabinets yet and have less than ideal placement setups and they sound fantastic ... especially considering the cost. Have fun! 😀
