BIAS TESTING ON MY BREADBOARD
I had to check in on this thread....recently turned my 5E3 Deluxe into a AA964 Princeton in order to utilize a spare gain stage as a tremelo add-on. Had to go from Cathode to Fixed bias of course, and found the inter-dependence of the tremelo and the bias voltage. Removed the tremelo add-on, and am generating bias with a 48V switcher and a monster select-o-drop (see pics). Swapping my SigGen for my guitar regularly to listen to the different biases. Fun! Varying bias from -40 to -23VDC gives me 9 to 43mA plate current. Don't know if I want to stick with the fixed bias or not. Have found higher bias voltage (on the 6V6s) raise the preamp voltages (and the gain and clipping) substantially. Lots of playing and data to take, but am learning a lot!

We were talking about biasing 12AX7 and moved on to talk about grid current bias. I'm unclear how fixed bias for a 6V6 relates to this.
Didn't want to misdirect the thread - apologies. Am just experimenting with biasing myself, albeit not on the input stages...
