bi amping peavey speakers

Hi,I have a pair of Peavey Hysis 1 RX tops, I also have a pair of bass bins. I have purchased an active crossover and want to run the speakers by biamping them. I have two amplifiers and want to run one for the subs and the other for the top cabs. The subs do not contain any crossovers so I'm ok with that part of the problem. Would it work if I was to bypass the internal crossover on the Hysis 1's and wire the twelve inch black widow directly to the speaker output but continue to use the crossover for the compression driver thus eliminating the need to triamp and use another amp to drive just the compression drivers? Many thanks in anticipation of your advice!

No need for tri amping. Leave the xover in the top box and send mid to high range to it and send low sub to the bass bins. That will make the mid/top speaker compatible with anything else that crops up.
If the HiSys has a Speakon connector, to comply with the standard, wire the top to 2+ and 2- with the 12" to 1+ and 1-. Pins 1+ and 1- is full range or bass and 2+ and 2- is treble only where major PA systems are used in tri wire systems.

The Hysis is a speaker system, it will try to reproduce whatever you send to it. It has no idea in the world whether you have already skimmed the bottom off the audio. Its internal crossover will sort out what goes to the woofer and what to the horn.

Just because you crossed off the bottom for separate amplification doesn;t mean all other speakers must be individually driven.
