Bi amp 3 way loudspeaker.

I intend to modify this three-way loudspeaker initially designed in 1995.
Note the black loudspeaker on top is nothing to do with this project.

I was after a plate amplifier for a Turbo Bass floor-standing loudspeaker.

The three transducer loudspeaker has midrange and tweeter connected to a standard remote amplifier; however, a fixed gain plate amplifier in the loudspeaker cabinet drives only the subwoofer.

I was after a plate amplifier with the following features:
active filter subwoofer 125Hz 100 Watts mono
soft clipping & anti-saturation
4 mm binding post
High-level inputs only from binding post
universal 90 Volt to 260V mains input
IEC connector
Power switch.
Plate amplifier can detect that the main amplifier is switched off and go to a low power stand by mode.


My project setting up 3 transducer hi-fi loudspeakers.

I require two matched microphones mounted from a vertical floor stand with adjustable height.
Each of the two microphones to have a voltage output to an oscilloscope.

Outside open field test,
A signal generator with 10 cycle tone burst mode will be used to test the crossover attenuation 3dB down point, at 2.5KHz and 125Hz
also very important to check the phase of the transducer, my theory is that the tweeter has to be mounted back a few inches from the midrange and the woofer a few inches forward from the midrange to get the correct phase.

Huh?

Set up in your music room and run REW near-field tests on each driver (not destructively loud for tweeters). See what you got. Choose crossover freqs and slopes.

Aside from providing some comfort that you are being Real Scientific, why test out or doors when you have a room to test in?
