Unfortunately I am without Akabak for the moment but think the Nd magnet unit would work well in an XKi for 60Hz or 100Hz on up depending on sub XO. The driver though seems like it has a suitable mid Qts that might allow tuning a bit lower than fs when used in a MLTL. The ferrite magnet unit you pointed out looks interesting but that deep notch near the bottom sort of makes it not good for anything where you might want smooth bass. If it were smooth 57Hz out of 0.57 cu ft is not too bad.

wow, prv has a heavy cone, maybe be that's why it is so well behaved above 1khz.
looks like the awesome measuring yet mushy sounding poly cones.

I think hemptone cones are onto something.

Designer of the jaf bombard talking about the fr8.

"PJ: Yes, tests were also carried out at the transducer businesses Davis, and will soon begin work on the transmitter using Fostex Company. Dedicated to test two models are very low broadband parameter Qts total goodness. Transmitters HempAcoustic Win compared to others due to the membrane of vegetable fibers (in this case, hemp), not impregnated paper. First, such a membrane is much more rigid, with similar weight, which translates into a greater range of low diameter and the characteristics in a wide band is devoid of irregularities, just longer even when the design and tuning steering proved easier application."

but, that was the 8gr cone, not the 12g cone available now.

mms on the 8MR600NDY is about the same as Eminence's Delta Pro 8A. fwiw, I like Cannabis Rex and assume Lil Buddy are good within their range. I've wondered if Eminence could make a 12LTA type with Cannabis Rex cone but cloth rather than paper surround. would 100 custom Eminence sell here? (seems like I've seen mention of 50 minimum run before -?)

hey GM - fc = 53.83Hz and qtc ~0.86 - can't find my USB drive but will save the result as a screen shot. That's not a huge raise (only 28%) from ~42Hz out of the box fs.

OK, thanks! So it's big enough to meet the minimum with ~12 Hz to spare, but as your measurements show, it's still much too small to make much bass.

It's a function of Vas, then tuned to Fs, though with today's low Vas drivers it may be better to tune high Qt units based on its T/S max flat alignment Fb. Don't recall ever testing one both ways to see which sounds better.

Anyway, for the 96 L and 113.96 L values, net Vb = 66.67 L, 79.14 L, so with today's low Vas drivers, many will basically be mid-bass alignments output wise and need such long vents to get a low vent mach that it's best to make them either MLTLs or preferably inverse tapered TQWTs.
