BG ribbon question

In the case of most of the biger BG ribbons power handeling is
discussed using 12,18 or 24 db crossovers. With a 300 hz crossover with a 24db cut used when used near full rated power.
I want to use a pair with a 300 hz 6db xover. Is there a way to
figure the power rating at 300hz and a 6db cut if the drivers are rated at 135w at 300hz and a 24db xover.

Thanks,

Never had either Maggies or ESLs. That's another project....

The B&Gs sound very good. A tad soft at the very top. They start rolling off at ~12KHz but are only down 3-4 dB at 16-17 KHz. Not too bad. There's a resonant spike at 5 KHz that has to be notched.

I have them set up as dipoles right now, but just finished a monopole enclosure and will try that. Filling in the bottom with an Adire DPL12 but have some Peerless CSX 10"ers as a replacement. The DPL12s just couldn't handle the higher xover.

They are definitely keepers!

Pete,

What type of B&G's do you have (RD 50/75) and have you considered building a clone of the Wisdom Audio Adrenaline Dipole or Monopole version with the TC Sounds drivers?
The "active brain" is a modified version of the Marchand Electronics XM9 x-over.
Maybe it's a good thing to start a new thread and make it a project on this forum, provided there's enough interest.
One of the drawbacks could be the price of the B&G drivers and good woofers like for instance te Stryke woofers.

Success with your project.

I'm using the RD50s and hoping that the ribbon with bass box concept will do the trick. Here's what they looked like using the DPL12, all dipole.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I just switched them over to a sealed enclosure on top of sealed CSX 10" from Peerless.

I'm also using an XM9 xover at 450 Hz.
