Hi,
I have been using a B1 for several years. I'd like something that sounds even better that is commercially available without costing an arm and a leg. That last statement might be tough to deliver on but I thought I'd put it out to the group anyway. I currently use an First Watt M2 with so a preamp with a tiny bit of gain is welcome.
Best,
Chris

Some get very good reviews.
I fear the only way to find out is to build some yourself.
Not quite meeting your "commercial" requirement.
If you need gain, then you must look at a completely different class of equipment.

I have an email to Pieter at Tribute to see if he will build a volume control with a step up built in like what you suggest.
different circuit
so , it will work ......... if you change circuit
and then call it B1again , if you insist ......

I'm going to use Intact TVC into M2
ditto without any additional gain
I have drekload of both efficiency and sensitivity on disposal , with my Tanns

I have a DHT preamp...with Intact Audio TVC's. It's finished but I need two additional inputs and some work on the power supply to get the noise down. As I'm out of space it also means a new chassis...and many many hours of work.
A 1:2 + TVC would probably be the easiest solution. Or a 1:2 + B1...
