Best woofer for 3 way using first order crossover.

Yes a possible candidate.I have Paul Kittingers Vianadi design for that woofer which looks pretty interesting.
It has a unusually broad range without any objectionable resonances almost up to 4k.
Good luck finding a 10" that behaves as clean that high up, also a paper cone so not any objectional harmoics from a metal cone.

Has a rather pronounced surround/cone resonance at a much lower freq.
The breakup is killed by the unusually high inductance making it roll off by itself.

The smoothest driver like that i ever encountered in that size, is the TAD TL-1101H but with limited xmax, 16ohm and high inductance.
Not suited for woofer duty.

Here are some of the other suggested ones for comparsion.

Not first order though.
Depends what you mean by "first order", it usually constitutes only one inductor/Cap in series.
That's it, no limitations to notches or phase correction etc. Jut look at a old Thiel XO.

If you want a actual first order XO it means an acoustical 6db slope, you need 3 octave of clean bandwidth above the XO ca, so to at least 3khz.
Else that is not what you are asking for in the first place.

The suggestes W22 can almost do that, just needs a zobel or similar to kill off the top end rise around 4K

Baffle step compensation alone requires 6dB (suitable coil), then add extra lowpass to achieve acoustic 1st order... Perhaps Linkwitz transform to lift low bass?

Very good suggestions like Audax, Visaton, SEAS with paper or poly cone. Double 8" sealed is what I like too because 12" needs a very wide box.

If you have the funds for it. One of the smoothest and best behaved (damped) Poly cones is the mineral filled cones from Skaaning/Audiotechnology.
They will also custom make a driver to your specs.
No damping on surround though, so expect a resonances from cone/surround termination.

Just the prices are no fun. Especially in recent years as the Dane's have not had soaring inflation like the rest of Europe.
