I actually use a Denon AVR 4311 to feed my 7.1 multichannel system.
I recently bought a Pass X3 and 2 Pass X150.5 to amplify my system and would like to keep my Denon AVR as a multichannel pre-amp.
The thing is that the Denon only has RCA output connectors while the Pass have both RCA and XLR input connectors. Hence my question: what is the best way to connect my Denon to my Pass? Should I simply use RCA to RCA cables? Should I better use RCA to XLR cables and what would be the benefit (supersymmetry…)?

if you try with and without Denon in signal chain - along with Pass gear - soon you'll bring Denon in other room
you're wasting your gray cells with useless goal
now practical approach .... use some clever switching devices to have just source and Pass gadgets while listening stereo , and connect it in just practical way (RCA) with Denon pre while using them as front for 7.1

Yes but there is no switching device that are remotly controlled so at the end I know it will be very painfull.
One day I'll will change my pre-amp for for the time bein i'd like to keep my Denon.

ZM is dead right, I just weaned my son off of his AV receiver. He didn't believe it could make that much difference, but he found out very quickly.
Aside from that, just use good RCA cables. XLRs aren't going to help unless you have a balanced preamp, and even that is arguable.
