A buddy of mine wants to know: What are the best speakers for this amp.... are they quarter wave horns?
I am sure he'd appreciate any guidance you can offer.
Thanks.

I think the F5 does well into most speakers, but if they are bright or have
peaks on the top end, you'll hear it.

in my office I like little Maggies and more recently Alpair7s in small BR-cabs run from my F5

Any speaker with good sensitivity (92dB or more), but you try before or avoid the brighter speakers (This amp have ultra clean and extended highs and this is a problem with a poorly designed speaker).
I'm using my F5 with a 96dB/1m DIY speakers

Heard a F5 through some old rogers ls4 the other day think they are around 88db and sounded fanstatic

Wow I'm surprised it worked well through the maggies. I tried mine through a buddies maggy 1.6 and although detailed it really lacked the bass compared to.... threshold s150.

You mean the MMG?
Sounds like the Jordans are worth a look-see.

yes, the little MMGs that sold for $550 years ago...very nice in a small office and they sing beautifully with the F5....

Fostex FE126 back loaded horns showed good results and I now use the F5 on Altec compression drivers, not as smooth as Keith Stone but enjoyable, lol.
I am using the F5's with Metronomes -- the Met's take several days of constant playing to break in. I've also used the F5's with the SEAS Thor's.
Anyone have any ideas about how the F5 will sound with Tannoy iiiLz's? I'm thinking of building one but do find the iiiLz's quite bright

What is a iiiLz?
Can you give a link.
I suspect to keep the box small and the price down that the bass response has been set low.
