Well, duh.Who gives a f... what they'll do in a horn? In a Cornscala they're not in a horn, they're a direct radiator
do they have no horn loading, so it is irrelevant.
I have owned Khorn, LaScala (factory and DIY, also djk ported), Heresy and KPT250. By the time I'd engineered all the faults out of the Khorn, there were no Klipsch parts left in system.

I know what are you talking about. the horns (K-400 and ...) in KHorn and LaScala suck! they are more PA than Hi-fi :hypno2: I replaced them with some Tractrix ones. the K-77 tweets are also upgraded with Bob's CT125s or better. CW1526 works well IMHO 🙄 Nerworks of Klipsch are also really floops and weak points. they are also replaced with Alk Universals and Bob's new OXs and there is an Extreme Slop under construction 🙄 I use Selenium D250-X and I'm also happy with K-55s but maybe B&c DCM50 or some BMS is soon playing role in court 😀 and maybe some round horn... who knows... but all in all I'm happy with horns

Electrostatic Speakers, Reconditioned ?

My suggestion is to contact Your local dealer and order an audition of a reconditioned Quad ESL 63. The new speakers from Quad still use dimensions that match the ESL 63 panels.

The old Early 1980's model factory reconditioned from QUAD UK is what I have, it came quite a way under your budget delivered to my house, I am very happy with it,

Reasons against a Quad ESL 63:
Directional Limited Bass volume.
You should not use them when its humid, and about to thunderstorm.

The Quad ESL 63 it directional but nothing like a ESL 57, and in theory better than most Electrostatic speaker manufacturers, and in my opinion most Electrostatic Speakers excel in the treble and mid range and stereo imaging, and only some companies putting in serious R&D can even get close as a collection of compromises with cone based speakers.
