I am looking for recommendations for a good sounding medium priced EL34 tube. I have a quad of EI's but they don't seem to tolerate 50 mA of bias ea without the tubes wanting to turn slightly red. They start to turn red at 22watts but are supposed to be a 25watt rated tube. Is this a common problem with the small bottle tube or just the EI's?

I've been using the Svetlana "Flying C" in a Stereo 70 mod and they seem to work very well. No red plates at 50 ma.
A lot suggest 6L6GC Electroharmonix.And they're cheaper than Svetlana.
I bought 4 for my stereo unit but I haven't tried them, yet.I'm planning to bias them at 420V and 50-60mA.

i`ve heard the shuguangs and the EH. both are quite nice compared to the JJ el34 blue glass. they are much better at clarity and tone.
