It's even better if you find a good table for your router. Most of the work I do now is with a table.
I'm using 3 1/2 HP Freud, and I can't compalain. Although Bosh seemed to be really nice.

I have a few and the Dewalt 621 is what I love the most.
Dust collection is a must and it works GREAT on the 621.
I have found few that can do that well with dust collection as well as handle a load of cutting as the 621 but yet weight is so light.

895PK is going into the router table with the fixed base.
And makes it very quick to remove for a second router with the second base.Plunge.
But still day after day I pick up the Dewalt 621 over and over for the may reason of dust control.
Get a small shop vac and your lungs will love you forever.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Timn8ter said:You can usually find Porter Cable 690s with plunge attachments for about $200. It works fine for occasional speaker building. I've had mine for a while now and have no regrets.
I love this router, and they make a variable speed version of it, which is a necessity with the big bits. I love the dual bases, as it is much easier to use small roundover bits with the regular base, while using the plunge base with the jasper jig.
As for dust collection... the newer version of this router package has a dust collection base, as mentioned by Al above.

I have a dust collection attachment too, but working on a table I never use it. But most of my work is done out, in the open air though.

Yup, me too. I'm literally working out in the back yard when using the router. Always looking out for a bright sunny day to do my DIY stuff

I bought the Ryobi 180 after reading the referenced article a couple weeks ago. So far I'm extremely happy with it. It's got more than enough power, it's quiet, and it's got all the features that I wanted. I feel that it's important to have a variable speed control when working with large diameter bits (like a rabbet bit). It's also nice to have a 1/2" collet. I certainly can't speak for the unit's long-term durability yet, but up to this point, I couldn't be happier with it.
