I found this thread this morning when I was having my coffee and thought to myself; Self, I can do better than that. These and the best sounding RS 1354 your ever heard.
Absolutely beautiful 🙂

... You mean it still works? 😀
wow!
that must be even better than the "painted on bird droppings" treatment.
more it better!
for "common" production drivers i thought the Fostex FE138ES-R looked nice, really liked the subtle multi-color cone.

for something less common, i thought the MyEmia Lowther field coil conversions came out beautiful, especially the patined cooper...

I've heard a number of them,
really liked the small field coil version in the "Nessie" style box,
although other versions/configurations were noticably "lacking" to my ears.
As to looks, they always remind me of a cuspidor...

As a simile, good call. It's been fun looking at these but I use grilles on everything so no bragging points for looks.
I had to look up "cuspidor": a spittoon: a receptacle for spit (usually in a public place).
I'm disappointed there doesn't seem to be any Feastrex at RMAF this year 🙁 Rocky Mountain Audiofest 2010

I really like the looks of the Moth drivers. Too bad they're no longer available.
Also these Panasonic drivers are nice looking, cream colored cone, with oxblood surrounds (I have a pair of these):

What is that? Another sort of eNabl? 😉
someone had just way too much time on their hands, and I wanna see the matched pair 🙄
re the Voxativs - anyone actually look at the price list?
£3,690 each? - and that's not even the top of the line
£24,500:
is it just me, or is this a bit excessive

I think it's just you. 😀
Myself, I am finalizing plans to make a scaled up Bose 901 copy with 9 of those AC-Xps a side. Should look mighty pretty - "best looking", in fact.
The "box" would be 1" thick glass, the better to see the pretty innards. Sure, it's $220,500 for the drivers, and then there's the glass - but it would keep me off the streets.
Oh, and those prices are per pair, by the way, so I just saved you 50% off the top.
Cheers Chris!
