If I remember correctly, lowering the impedance peak was due to the added fiberglass.
Angel Hair was very efficient to lower the smaller wiggles above that peak with less stuffing needed (removing internal reflections). This was the reason for me to use another combination of materials, as I wanted the driver to play trough the impedance peak with a sort of Linkwitz transform (array of 25 drivers with FIR EQ).
This test was done with a single driver enclosure though.
I'd certainly consider using Angel Hair for mid frequencies. Overall performance of Fiberglass is hard to beat though. But that shouldn't be used with ported enclosures for Obvious reasons.
