All cathode bypass caps are evils. However, sometimes, particularly in DC coupled amps, we need them. I have experimented with Black Gate, Nichicon Muse, Elna SilmicII …. I am not totally happy with any of these. Any suggestions in the 30V to 150V range, 330uF-470uF? Caps that are more neutral (sound wise) and not euphonic.

Solen do some 200uF PP caps, available from Speakerbits for $A98 ea. VTV have some 100uF oils at $US50 ea. I've also seen some 330uF PP's somewhere in my travels, and when I find the link, I'll post it. I do recall they were more expensive than a pair of Solens though. Mind you, all of these caps are big.
Or you could eliminate the problem totally, and buy a nice Crown amp 😀

Thanks Brett. I have tried Metallised PP before. Not really my cup of tea.
I am experimenting with ICs in a line stage. So far, I have found no reason to change from tubes. However, my experiments are continuing.

Not all PP caps are metalised, the good ones are film and foil but you'll pay thru the nose for them.
When I studied Economics some 40 years ago Air, Water and Sunlight were classified as FREE GOODS. So I may have to opt for air dielectric!!
Has anyone tried Black Gate BG-NxHiQ? Something that is more affordable?
